Some New Soaps Now Available

Summer is such a busy time, and it has been awhile since I’ve done a blog post.  I’ve been doing the markets, plus every once in  awhile, my husband and I like to get away in our travel trailer.  Also, I’m going to be taking a course, learning how to build and maintain my own website.  I’m so excited about this, plus in the long run, will save me quite a bit of money.  I can pay myself, instead of someone else.

I have made some remakes, with a different look, plus some new cakes and cupcakes, that are not quite ready yet, but I will be posting pictures of them soon.

New is Lavender Rosemary.  This one is all natural, and scented with Lavender and Rosemary essential oils.  It has a beautiful floral yet earthly scent, that I find quite calming.

Also new is Starry Nights.  This one  has top notes of jasmine, lemon and rum; middle notes of pungent lilac, rose, cedarwood, and balsam, with a creamy base of vanilla. This complex fragrance combines over a dozen different aromas to create an unique fragrance blend of spice, floral, citrus and earth tones. Even with all of these scent combinations, this is not a strongly scented soap, but a nice mild scent.

And lastly, this one is not new, but has a new look.  Black Linen and Amber.

Today, I made some embeds, that will be going into some new fall and winter soaps.  Well I hope you like these ones.  More to come soon.

What’s In Your Soap?

It seems that many people still do not understand the benefits of vegetable based, handmade soaps.  I have had people at Craft Events come up to me and comment on my sign that says” Our soaps are good for your skin.”  They say to me “Really!  I thought they just looked pretty and smell nice”  Then I go on to tell them how they contain all of their natural glycerin, and how many of the oils have benefits to their skin.  Our handmade soaps all contain a very high percentage of Olive Oil.  You will notice that this is the first ingredient on all of our soap labels.

Olive oil, is not only benefical in your diet, but has many skin benefits too!

Here are just some of the benefits;

Rich in Vitamin E and Beta Carotene, Helps to stimulate new skin cell growth, It is extremely mild and may be helpful to people with skin conditions.  It is also an antioxidant.

Another fine ingredient we add to our soaps is Coconut Oil.  This is always the second ingredient you will find on our soap labels.  Coconut Oil produces soft creamy lather.  It also helps to make the soap white and is a great cleaning agent.

The third ingredient in our soap is Sustainable Palm Oil.  (Due to our concerns that the production of Palm Oil by some manufacturers is causing damage to the environment and those that live among it, we only purchase Palm Oil that is from a Certified Sustainable source, which must meet strict standards to ensure it is being produced in a way that is healthy to the environment.)  Palm Oil helps to make a harder long-lasting soap.  Also a very good skin care oil. Palm Oil is very high in fatty acids, Vitamin E, Vitamin K and magnesium. (Some soap makers use Tallow, which comes from animals, instead of Palm.)

Other oils we use in our soap are Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Sunflower Oil, Neem Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Emu Oil which is only used in our unscented Luxury Emu Soap.  These are all Luxury Oils than have many skin benefits.

So when you purchase a handmade soap from Mountain Farms Soap, you can be sure that you are getting a quality bar of soap, that if used properly (not left in water) will last you a very long time, and is kind to your skin and the environment.  Just one more note, – our bars are Big.  Weighing in most cases 150 grams or more, we feel you get good value for your money.

So please check your labels and know what you are putting onto your skin, the body’s largest organ.~Darlene

Soap Photo’s of Soap’s I Made Yesterday

So here are the pictures of the soap’s I made yesterday.  First is Black Raspberry Vanilla.  This one has a beautiful scent. It’s a rich and full bodied berry scent with a touch of vanilla.  Enriched with Cocoa Butter and Sweet Almond oil.

Black Raspberry Vanilla

Next soap is Neem, with Peppermint & Eucalyptus.  If you have ever smelled Neem oil right out of the bottle, it is not to nice.  Kind of a garlic smell.  But I have added a beautiful essential oil blend of Lavender, Peppermint and Eucalyptus, so this soap is really refreshing.  Neem oil, comes from the Neem tree in India.  It is very anti-fungal. It  is said to help dry irritated skin, and is said to help acne conditions. May also be helpful for those who suffer with eczema.  This soap has also been enriched with Cocoa Butter.

And the last soap I made was Love Magik.  This scent is composed of a sweet bouquet of mandarin orange, bergamot, and tangerine enhanced by hints of fresh peaches, strawberries, and raspberries on an undertone of white musk. Imaginative and very sexy! Quite lovely.  It has also been enriched with both Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter.

Love Magik

Well that is it for me today.  Tomorrow is more packaging labeling and photo’s.  Lot’s to do this time of year.

More Soaps Made Today

Well today was another busy day making soap.  First I made 10 pounds of Black Raspberry/Vanilla.  This is one of my best sellers.  I made it a little different, and I am excited to cut it up tomorrow.  I put some black and pink shredded soap inside, along with a maroon line and a little swirl, so it should be interesting. I made a 7 lb mold, plus a 2 lb loaf, which I will be cutting up into guest bars, and a 1 pd loaf that will be sold as a whole loaf.

Black Raspberry Vanilla

I also made 5 pounds of Neem and 5 pounds of Love Magik, all remakes, with a slightly different look.  Tomorrow when I cut them up, I will post some more photo’s.

See you tomorrow!
